About Hookah Pookah

Hookah Pookah is a free, browser-native poker odds calculator for Texas Hold'em, Short Deck (6+), Pot Limit Omaha (PLO4) and five-card PLO (PLO5). It exists to answer concrete spot questions—equity, win and tie odds, hand chances and next-card impact—with numbers that say whether they are exact or estimated.

How the numbers are made

Calculations run locally in Web Workers across available CPU cores. When the deal space is small enough, Hookah Pookah enumerates every remaining board and returns an exact result. Larger spots switch to Monte Carlo sampling that continues until the requested 95% confidence interval is tight enough, and that interval stays visible beside the estimate. Ties split the pot. Ranges drop blocked combos and sample overlapping ranges without bias.

What has been checked

All 133,784,560 seven-card Hold'em hands match published category counts. Millions of reference hands from open evaluators, including PLO4 and PLO5, rank identically. Preflop equities match OMPEval's exhaustive enumerator to four decimal places. Randomised scenarios with ranges, weights and dead cards match an independent brute-force oracle. Monte Carlo coverage is calibrated against exact answers.
